When Hermes' own Jean-Louis Dumas sat down next to Jane Birkin on a flight, he had no idea he was about to create history. When Jane Birkin discussed her need for a sizeable (yet chic) weekender, Dumas immediately got to work designing the perfect bag for her needs. In 1984, we were introduced to the Birkin, which would quickly become the most coveted bag in history, thanks (in part) to the 48 hours it takes to hand-assemble this exquisite piece, as well as the extensive waitlist you'll need to join to purchase one from stores. This authentic Birkin is rendered in Swift leather and accented with Palladium-plated hardware. Swift leather has a fine grain that becomes softer over time and is known for having a semi-matte finish. Includes lock, two keys, and a clochette.
