Bottega Veneta’s best-known bags share woven leather, but their openings and carry styles differ: the Jodie is a zipped hobo, the Cassette is a flat magnetic crossbody, the Andiamo combines handles with a sliding strap, and the Cabat is an open tote.
The Mini Jodie stays in the hand or on the forearm; the Small Jodie fits on the shoulder. The Cassette keeps both hands free. The Andiamo adds compartments and two carry modes, while the Cabat gives you quick access at the cost of an open main compartment.

From Intrecciato to the modern icons
Bottega Veneta was founded in Vicenza in 1966, and woven leather became its visual signature. Intrecciato describes the weave itself, not one fixed bag or leather. Broad padded strips on an older Padded Cassette do not wear or feel like the finer, supple weave on a lambskin Jodie.
The Cabat dates to the early 2000s. The Jodie was introduced in 2020 under Daniel Lee. The bag takes its name from Jodie Foster, who was photographed shielding herself from photographers with a Bottega bag. Matthieu Blazy introduced the Andiamo in early 2023; its Italian name means “let’s go,” a reference to movement that fits its handle-and-strap design.
Bottega describes the Cabat as double-faced leather strips woven over a wooden mould, with two artisans taking two days to make one. That construction claim is specific to the Cabat.

Product details: Mini Jodie, Small Jodie, Cassette, Andiamo, Large Andiamo, Mini Cabat, Small Cabat.
Jodie: buy the Small unless you travel very light
The Mini Jodie carries a large phone, card case, AirPods and keys, and its 10 cm handle drop keeps it in the hand or on the forearm. The Small measures 21 × 36 × 13 cm and has an 18 cm drop, giving it more room and genuine shoulder carry. Both have a zip and one main compartment, so the Small is the stronger everyday choice.
Cassette: the cleanest crossbody answer
The current black Cassette uses medium-scale Intreccio calfskin, a magnetic closure and one interior zip pocket. At 5 cm deep it stays close to the body in crowds but leaves little room for bulky cases or bottles. Historical Padded Cassette listings refer to a different version.
Andiamo: the versatile step up
The regular Andiamo earns its higher price with a divided interior, one zip pocket, two open pockets and a sliding crossbody strap. Its 25 × 32 × 11 cm body works as a day bag. The exact 35 × 42 × 18 cm Large Andiamo linked above is the work choice because Bottega says it fits a 16-inch laptop.
Cabat: an open tote with a short handle drop
The white Small Cabat costs $9,100 and measures 20 × 33 × 13 cm, with a 13 cm handle drop. Its open top and short handles make it less secure and harder to carry over outerwear than the zipped Jodie or crossbody Cassette, while the detachable zipped pouch protects smaller items.
Colors, leather and everyday wear
Black is the easiest first choice if you want the weave to disguise handling marks. Medium and dark browns are nearly as forgiving and often show the woven pattern more clearly. Pale white, cream, pink and blue bags need more care around denim, corners and exposed weave edges because dirt and color transfer show sooner.
The woven surface has many exposed edges. Check for lifting, rubbing and dryness where the bag bends, then inspect handles and strap attachments because they take concentrated stress. Lambskin feels softer and slouchier; calfskin generally gives a firmer hand. Suede and raffia need their own care, so never assume that advice for a black leather Jodie transfers to a seasonal version.
Black, green and brown were the most common colors in BagUSeek’s September 20, 2026 resale inventory, followed by blue, pink, red and white. The blue Jodie pictured above is credited to Vestiaire Collective.
What preowned asking prices look like
Resale is most useful when you want a discontinued color or want to spend less than current retail. Compare the exact size, material, age and condition because each family total below combines many versions.
The Pouch is another preowned option for buyers who want a soft clutch rather than a shoulder or crossbody bag. Its gathered, handle-free shape is carried in the hand.

Preowned inspection checklist
- Weave: Look for rubbed, lifted or dry edges, especially at corners and folds.
- Carry points: Inspect the knotted Jodie handle, shoulder loops and every strap attachment for stretching or cracking.
- Shape: Compare the bag with unloaded photos; soft leather can slump, while overstuffing can distort the weave.
- Closure and hardware: Test the zip or magnet and check metal for deep scratches, plating loss and repairs.
- Identity: Match the model code, dimensions, lining, pockets and hardware to the claimed version. Historical names are often mixed together.
- Condition: Inspect photos of the corners, interior, handles and woven edges before relying on a seller’s condition grade.
Buying new: availability and returns
Online availability changes by color and material, and the same family page may mix standard leather with seasonal or exotic versions. Save the product code with the price so you can compare the same bag later.
For eligible U.S. online orders, Bottega Veneta’s U.S. policy allows returns within 14 days of delivery or pickup. Returns are complimentary and must be made in the country of purchase. Try the opening, strap drop and loaded weight promptly, and keep packaging and tags intact while you decide.
Which Bottega Veneta bag should you buy?
For most first-time buyers, the Small Jodie is the strongest starting point if shoulder carry suits you: it has a zip, more room than the Mini and an 18 cm handle drop. Choose the Cassette instead when hands-free crossbody carry is essential. The Andiamo and Cabat make more sense once you know you will use their extra organization or open-tote format.
