The Hermès Tablier Sellier is a shoulder bag based on the leather apron used by Hermès saddlers. Introduced in Fall/Winter 2024, it has a removable canvas pouch, a Clou de Selle pivot closure, and a light build that works best for daily essentials.
Tablier Sellier translates to "saddler's apron" in French. The main leather panel folds over the top like an apron, the long strap becomes the handles, and a matching canvas pouch sits underneath the flap.
Overview & Design
The Tablier Sellier debuted in Hermès's Fall/Winter 2024 collection as a new model. Hermès says it is based on the protective leather apron used at the École des Métiers training school. The strap from that apron shape becomes the handles, and four metal studs on the base keep the leather off the table when you set the bag down.
Key Design Elements
- Apron-Inspired Flap
- The main leather panel folds over the top like an apron and closes with the Clou de Selle clasp.
- Clou de Selle Clasp
- A cylindrical closure in gold or palladium that rotates to hold the flap shut, similar to a cufflink.
- Etrivière Buckle Straps
- Two long leather straps with side buckles that cinch the bag's width. The leather "neckband" becomes the handles for shoulder or hand carry.
- Removable Canvas Pouch
- A zipped canvas pouch lives under the flap — écru on H086583 references, tonal on H086431 ones. It detaches and works as a clutch or organizer.
- Metal Stud Feet
- Four small studs on the bottom protect the bag when placed on surfaces.
- Lightweight Construction
- The bag stays light even after you add the usual daily essentials.
The bag mixes leather and canvas. The body comes in Vache Hunter, which is a stiff cowhide, Swift calfskin, which is smooth and soft, or Barenia Faubourg, which darkens and marks over time. The inside pouch is a heavy canvas that either matches the leather or comes in écru, depending on the reference.

Across the Hermès listings we have tracked since July 2025, seven colorways have appeared in the US, UK, euro-zone, Canadian and Australian markets. Price history: the US price was $5,600 when we first recorded the bag in July 2025 and moved to $5,850; the euro-zone price went from €3,900 to €4,050 over the same period. Japan is the notable gap — in a year of tracking, the Tablier Sellier has never appeared on the Japanese Hermès site, while 18 other markets have carried it.
Resale Market Prices
Resale is where the numbers spread out. Ten Tablier Selliers are listed for sale right now across the resellers we watch, asking $6,100 to $16,886. Strip out Vestiaire Collective, where a handful of sellers ask five figures, and the working range is about $6,100 to $7,950 — above US retail, because the bag is new enough that few owners are letting go of one.

Comfort & Usability
Day-to-Day Experience
- Weight
- Very lightweight — owners note it feels "so light" even when filled. Doesn't pull on the shoulder like heavier leather bags.
- Strap Comfort
- Fixed leather straps (~9″ drop) sit around waist/hip level. Narrow straps may dig in slightly if overstuffed — keep it lightly packed.
- Opening
- The Clou de Selle clasp is convenient — one hand can twist to unlatch. Wide opening for easy access, though not fully enclosed like a zippered bag.
- Organization
- No built-in pockets — organization comes from the removable zippered pouch. Some owners use small pouches to keep items sorted.
- Security
- The flap and clasp keep the bag closed, but the top is not fully zipped. Keep small valuables in the zippered pouch inside.
Care Tips
- Vache Hunter leather: Stiff and can scratch easily. Handle gently and avoid rough surfaces. The leather may creak when new.
- Swift calfskin: Softer but still delicate. Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Condition sparingly if dry.
- Canvas pouch: Durable but can attract dust. Spot-clean gently if needed.
- Storage: Keep in dustbag, lightly stuffed (the pouch inside helps). Avoid direct sunlight.
- Hardware: Clean with dry polishing cloth. Avoid rubbing against hard surfaces.
Best Use Cases
The Tablier Sellier works best when you are carrying only the basics: errands, dinner, or travel with a passport, phone, and glasses. It is not a work bag and it is not the right pick if you need to carry much more than the essentials.

The verdict: the Tablier is the smaller, lighter option and carries essentials. The Margaux is a structured top-handle tote that swallows a laptop and files. They overlap in price, not in purpose.
vs Hermès Evelyne PM
The Evelyne PM (29 cm) is another everyday Hermès option. It is larger, has the perforated "H" on the front, and works crossbody. The Tablier is smaller, shoulder-only, and much plainer from the outside.
Where to Buy
Retail (New)
The Tablier Sellier is sold both in boutiques and on hermes.com. We have recorded it on the Hermès site in 18 markets since July 2025, including the US, UK, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong and South Korea. It is not a quota bag, so no purchase history is required — the difficulty is timing, because listings appear without warning and disappear within hours.
- Hermès online: The bag restocks on hermes.com in most of the markets that carry it. Because listings vanish quickly, restock alerts are the practical way to catch one.
- Boutiques: Paris (24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré), New York, London, Hong Kong and other flagships stock it, and colorways differ store to store.
- Japan: The Tablier Sellier has never appeared on the Japanese Hermès site in the year we have tracked it. Japanese buyers have been sourcing it abroad or on the secondary market.
Resale (Pre-Owned)
- Luxury Resellers: Fashionphile, The RealReal, Rebag, and Vestiaire Collective list Tablier Sellier bags. Asks currently start around $6,100, above the $5,850 US retail price.
- Verification: Always verify authenticity through reputable resellers with authentication guarantees.
