About Altuzarra

Altuzarra was founded in 2008 by designer Joseph Altuzarra, who grew up in Paris immersed in the world of fashion. After working at Givenchy and Proenza Schouler, he launched his own luxury brand with the goal of bringing together French style and Italian quality.

The brand's first handbag collection debuted in 2011. Early Altuzarra bag designs were known for their structured shapes, folded details, and tassels inspired by the fringe used on matador jackets. The Carine bag, with its unique inverted inverted pleats, became an instant hit.

Altuzarra's core vision is to create modern, feminine luxury for strong, independent women. The blend of Parisian chic and Italian craft has allowed the relatively young brand to stand out and earn respect in a competitive market.

Over the years, Altuzarra has continued to evolve its handbag shapes while retaining signature elements like tassels and accordion-style gussets. Recent collections have introduced more relaxed, softly structured bucket bags and totes as well as miniature versions of popular silhouettes.

The brand's most iconic bag is undoubtedly the Ghianda saddle style introduced for fall 2014. Its name meaning 'acorn' in Italian, the bag features Altuzarra's signature folded leather and contrasting tassel details, reinterpreting a classic equestrian silhouette in a decidedly modern way.

In 2016, Altuzarra collaborated with Gianvito Rossi on a line of lace-up sandals and boots complementary to the brand's ready-to-wear aesthetic. In 2018, a collaboration with art gallery White Cube explored themes of female empowerment and sexuality through photography and accessories.
