About Coach
Coach was founded in 1941 by designer Bonnie Cashin and executive Lillian Cahn, who aimed to produce fine leather accessories with innovative silhouettes. Inspired by baseball glove leather, Cashin's first iconic designs like the Cashin Carry were noted for simple shapes, functional details, and durable materials.
Over the following decades under creative director Reed Krakoff, Coach evolved beyond basics and introduced iconic bags like the Station Bag, a neatly structured carryall for everyday essentials. The brand also moved into logo products, establishing signature fabrics featuring its iconic horse and carriage mark.
Central to Coach's identity is customization and personalization. Through its Coach Create program launched in 2021, customers can design fully bespoke bags, wallets, and more in an industry-leading range of customizable options. This allows unique expressions of personal style.
Over its 80+ year history, Coach has partnered with major retailers like department stores as well as boutique outlets and its own global retail stores. The brand now has a presence in approximately 55 countries with over 1,500 retail and factory stores as well as e-commerce sites.
Influential brand ambassadors have included celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, and Michael B. Jordan, raising Coach's cultural cachet. The brand has also increased efforts in recent years toward representing diversity and inclusion.
Coach manufactures its leather goods and accessories in partnership with independent manufacturers globally. As part of parent company Tapestry Inc.'s goals, Coach aims to utilize recyclable and sustainably sourced packaging and materials in over 80% of products by 2025.
