Furla Handbags

About Furla

Furla was founded in Bologna, Italy in 1927 by the Furlanetto family, who were inspired by art and music to make beautifully designed, high-quality handbags. The brand is still family-owned today.

Furla's first designs from the 1920s and 30s were made from woven straw and customized with bright silks and decorative metal clasps. These whimsical bags stood out with their colourful personalities and fine Italian craftsmanship.

Central to Furla's vision is spreading the joy of Italian living through artfully designed, contemporary accessories that capture the imagination. This inspired philosophy translates into uniquely fanciful yet elegant handbags.

Over the decades Furla has evolved its handbag styles from structured leather satchels and boxy nylon designs in the 90s to softer, unstructured totes in a rainbow of punchy hues in the 2010s that exhibit the playfulness and color the brand is known for.

The Metropolis, a multi-compartment nylon shoulder bag introduced in the 90s remains an iconic bestselling style today. The 1927, a rounded flap bag with a long crossbody strap showcases Furla's signature candy colors. And the Giovanna demonstrates an innovative woven texture technique.

In collaborations, Furla partners with young talents to put an exciting spin on their candy colored classics, like a partnership with artist Paola Salibra to launch limited-edition prints of Furla's iconic styles. On the business side, Furla continues expanding worldwide with over 500 stores while always sustaining momentum from multi-generational family leadership.
