About Max mara

Founded in 1951 by Achille Maramotti, Max Mara began as a small tailoring business in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Maramotti, a visionary entrepreneur, was passionate about high-quality fashion, which led to the creation of the brand, combining his surname 'Mara' with 'Max' for maximum quality. The brand initially focused on high-quality coats, laying the foundation for its future success in luxury fashion.

Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Max Mara expanded its offerings beyond coats, introducing new lines such as sportswear, knitwear, and accessories. This expansion, combined with its use of emerging technologies and modern manufacturing techniques, helped the brand meet the growing international demand for its products.

Max Mara's 1980s milestone included gaining international recognition and launching its iconic '101801' camel coat. The first flagship store outside Italy opened in Paris, showcasing the brand's clean lines, impeccable tailoring, and luxurious fabrics, which appealed to fashion enthusiasts worldwide.

In the 1990s, Max Mara collaborated with esteemed designers like Karl Lagerfeld and Dolce & Gabbana, creating exclusive collections that fused creative visions with Max Mara's craftsmanship. The brand also focused on research and development, exploring new fabrics and design techniques.

Recent years have seen Max Mara embrace sustainability and social responsibility. The brand is committed to sourcing eco-friendly materials and ensuring ethical production practices, alongside supporting initiatives that empower women and promote education.

Today, Max Mara is a global fashion icon, present in over 100 countries. It continues to uphold its legacy of elegance and innovation, aiming to expand its digital presence and explore sustainable practices while remaining a leader in the fashion industry.
