BALENCIAGA FIRST BAG, City model, black colour that looks a bit anthracite grey-green depending on the light because the leather is vintage. A handbag to be carried in the crook of the arm or on the shoulder thanks to the handle. It's perfect for everyday, but it is not a tote for work things. There is a small mirror/card holder in the front pocket or to let it hang. Iconic style of the City, very rock and trendy effect. You can see the condition and the defects in the photos, it's clearly vintage but still completely usable. Here are the defects to note: the leather and cord handles are old but not torn, the corners have wear marks with holes visible in the photos which had been sewn up and are not really visible. However, on the "top band" near the zip opening you can see on the photos the leather is peeling off, I would say it's the most damaged part of the bag. It does not affect use but consider sewing or gluing it back. I am not sure. The hardware is bronze gold with a base aged effect but also aged by time. The leather has a patina, and it is missing a leather puller on the middle zipper, which is easy to replace, the others are present. On the shoulder handle the leather has also cracked, visible in the photos. The cracking is only on one side of the handle. Finally, on the front the leather is smooth, but on the back the leather is more aged and grainy. The bag has often been maintained, the leather rehydrated, waxed or with milk to keep its softness and revive the colour. I recommend doing this quite often to ensure its future with the best possible leather. The given dimensions are without the handles. Good capacity for a bag of this size. The bag is vintage and the leather is soft and supple. The Balenciaga First City is a soft, not rigid bag, so as it is vintage you can see in the photos that the leather moves, it slumps, it is not straight. You can see the serial numbers and the model engraved on the steel tag inside. Bought here on Vestiaire Collective in 2020, six years ago.
