The Sport Line was Karl Lagerfeld's way of putting couture-level design through an athletic filter, swapping Chanel's traditional tweed and chain hardware for perforated rubber, webbing straps, and technical fabrics. Rather than easing that tension, the line embraced it fully. This duffle bag makes the point clearly — soft grey nylon set against a rigid rubber base, with the CC logo moulded in rubber rather than cast in metal, set on a black backdrop for a bold, industrial finish that's unmistakably Chanel despite the unconventional materials. Lagerfeld took a similar approach around the same time using rabbit fur, but this bag leans into the more stripped-back, technical side of that design experiment. Interest in this era of Chanel has picked up significantly, with early-2000s sport-inspired luxury pieces becoming genuinely collectible again. Condition: Good, in keeping with a piece from this period. The nylon exterior holds up well overall, with light creasing spread across the surface and a small mark above the CC logo plaque, visible in the listing photos. The rubber base panel shows some surface oxidation, typical of ageing rubber, along with lighter, matte patches in places — no cracking or structural issues present. The rubber CC logo remains firmly attached, with light surface dirt consistent with age. The base shows no structural wear or damage. Chanel-embossed webbing straps are in very good shape with no fraying, and the plastic hardware looks undamaged. Zip pulls and gunmetal hardware are in very good condition, with all zips working smoothly. The interior looks barely used and includes a single zip pocket. Includes an EBV London dust bag.
