The Fendi Mamma followed directly on from the success of the original 1997 Baguette, offering the same effortless, downtown-cool spirit in a larger, more relaxed hobo shape. Designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi, it kept the house's iconic FF clasp — a logo famously sketched by Karl Lagerfeld in a matter of seconds — while making the bag more suited to everyday use, tapping straight into the height of the It-bag era. This example, in black suede with a red glitter-embellished FF clasp, pushes past the classic Mamma design, using glitter resin to give the brand's most recognisable hardware a livelier, more festive twist, echoing the special embellished pieces Fendi released around this time. The interplay between the soft, matte suede and the glossy gold-and-glitter hardware is really the heart of the design. Condition: Good, with wear typical of suede that's genuinely been used. The black suede exterior is in decent condition, with no notable marking or staining, though there's visible creasing and folding across the body from being stored unstuffed — it hasn't lost its shape, but it does carry a lived-in character, shown clearly in the photos. Corners show some light surface brushing and slight texture wear consistent with age. The gold-tone FF clasp and its red glitter inlay remain in very good condition, with no glitter missing or damage nearby. The leather strap is in good shape overall, having developed a natural curve with age, along with some creasing near the buckle points. Gold-tone hardware engraved with 'FENDI' is in good condition, free of noticeable scratches. The red satin interior lining is close to flawless, with minimal to no wear, and the zip pocket inside functions properly. Includes an EBV London dust bag.
