Authentic Hermès Drag Travel Bag. Very rare. Beautiful and timeless. Circa 1988. 55cm, vintage, gold leather and canvas, notched flap, double handle. Condition: This piece was obviously very well loved. There are spots, water marks, general wear, cracks in leather, missing foot on bottom, but is still a solid heirloom and has lots of life left. Base has a removable insert. Overall fair vintage condition. ​The "Drag" takes its name from a type of horse-drawn carriage, staying true to Hermès’ equestrian roots. In the 1980s, these were the ultimate understated travel statement—designed for people who wanted the craftsmanship of the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré without the obvious logos of the era. This was the same year they celebrated their 150th anniversary (with the "Year of the Exotic" theme), and the quality of the Toile canvas and gold leather from this specific year is highly regarded for its durability. The leather is likely Vache Naturelle with a patina and some water and oil marks. Fantastic weekender or large carry-on.
