Hermès Kelly 35 Retourné Dalmatian White Buffalo Skipper Palladium Hardware Dalmatian is one of the rarest finishes Hermès has ever produced. Produced in limited runs between roughly 2001 and 2010 and never reissued, the effect is achieved through a multi-stage dyeing process on Buffalo Skipper hide where pigments gather unevenly toward the center of each grain pocket, producing the characteristic spotted pattern. No two panels pattern identically. The white-ground configuration is the most graphic expression of the finish, with black pooling densely into a field that reads as organic rather than printed. Buffalo Skipper was originally developed by Hermès for marine applications, which accounts for its scratch-resistant, water-resistant character and the pronounced raised grain that carries the Dalmatian dye process better than smoother hides. The leather has been discontinued. Remaining Dalmatian pieces represent a closed production category. Retourné construction softens the 35 cm into its relaxed profile. Palladium hardware holds the black-and-white palette to its graphic register. Pale blue interior adds a third color to a bag that reads monochromatic from the outside. E stamp places production at 2001, within the earliest window of Dalmatian release. The dyeing process never scaled beyond Buffalo Skipper. Kelly 35 Retourné is the size and construction most frequently seen in Dalmatian, though the pattern was applied to 28 and 32 Kellys and, in very limited numbers, to Birkins. The white-ground configuration is less common than the orange and pink variants. Resale Insight: Discontinued Hermès materials trade on a different curve than standard leather. Dalmatian has appreciated consistently since production ceased because supply is closed and demand is driven by collectors tracking discontinued finishes as a category. Buffalo Skipper's durability keeps surviving pieces in better structural condition than equivalent-age Box or Togo, which makes Excellent on a 2001 piece defensible. 👜 JaneFinds Condition Guide📅 Hermès Date Stamp Reference⛓️ Accessory Chains📐 Hermès Size Guide📦 Sell With JaneFinds
