When Hermes' own Jean-Louis Dumas sat down next to Jane Birkin on a flight, he had no idea he was about to create history. When Jane Birkin discussed her need for a sizeable (yet chic) weekender, Dumas immediately got to work designing the perfect bag for her needs. In 1984, we were introduced to the Birkin, which would quickly become the most coveted bag in history, thanks (in part) to the 48 hours it takes to hand-assemble this exquisite piece, as well as the extensive waitlist you'll need to join to purchase one from stores. This authentic Natural Birkin is rendered in Epsom leather and accented with gold-plated hardware. Epsom leather is the most lightweight and easiest to clean of all Hermès leathers. It is embossed for a consistent grain and increased durability that will hold shape and does not scratch easily. Includes lock, two keys, and a clochette.
