When Hermes' own Jean-Louis Dumas sat down next to Jane Birkin on a flight he had no idea he was about to create history. When Jane Birkin discussed her need for a sizeable (yet chic) weekender, Dumas immediately got to work designing the perfect bag for her needs. In 1984, we were introduced to the Birkin, which would quickly become the most coveted bag in history thanks (in part) to the 48 hours it takes to hand-assemble this exquisite piece, as well as the extensive wait list you'll need to join to purchase one from stores. This classic pre-owned authentic Birkin is rendered in Rose Azalee Clemence leather and accented with Palladium-plated hardware. Clemence leather is a thick and durable calfskin with a medium textured grain known for resisting scratches, its ability to be refurbished, and a soft, relaxed feel with use. Includes lock, two keys, and a clochette.
