This piece comes from a genuinely historic moment for Louis Vuitton — 2001 marked the first time the house allowed an outside creative to reinterpret its monogram. Marc Jacobs was behind the decision, going against the brand's more conservative instincts to bring in Stephen Sprouse, known for his punk and graffiti-inspired art from the 80s, to reimagine the canvas as something rebellious and fresh. The launch became the stuff of fashion legend. When Victoria Beckham was photographed with a counterfeit piece from the line, Marc Jacobs personally arranged for her to receive an authentic one, along with a memorable dig about the fake. Decades on, the collaboration hasn't lost any of its appeal — original graffiti pieces are said to sit in the collections of celebrities like Rihanna and Beyoncé. Given how quickly the collection disappeared from shelves, it's widely credited with kicking off the trend of major designer-artist partnerships that Vuitton has continued ever since, including collaborations with Murakami and Kusama. Condition: Very Good, and a strong representation of this sought-after collectible. The patent leather shows a handful of light surface marks toward the lower section, otherwise in good condition throughout. Base wear is minimal — just light surface scratching, nothing deeper. Silver hardware has barely any visible wear. Handles remain in pristine shape. Interior is excellent, with little to no sign it's been used. Includes an EBV London dust bag.
