Louis Vuitton Keepall 55 Épi Noir M59052 The Louis Vuitton Keepall 55 is one of the House's most iconic travel bags. This particularly early example is made entirely of black Épi leather and dates from 1984, placing it among the very first generation of Épi Keepalls. These early Épi pieces are especially prized for their substantial construction, beautifully structured leather, and distinctive pronounced grain. Combined with the classic 55cm size and the understated Noir colour, it is a particularly characterful example of Louis Vuitton's vintage travel luggage. Condition: Beautifully preserved vintage condition with an exceptionally attractive overall appearance. The black Épi leather has retained a rich, deep colour and a beautiful natural lustre, with the distinctive Épi grain remaining crisp and pronounced throughout. The bag has also kept its shape remarkably well and still has that substantial, structured feel characteristic of these older Épi pieces. Naturally, the bag carries the signs of its previous travels. Light surface scratches, minor scuffing, occasional marks, and some creasing can be found on the exterior, particularly around the lower sections and side panels. Rather than detracting from the overall look, these are subtle signs of use that give the piece the expected character of an authentic vintage travel bag. The corners and piping are particularly well-preserved, without the significant wear often seen on Épi Keepalls of this generation. The leather handles and straps remain solid and present beautifully, showing only normal surface wear and light creasing. The gold-tone hardware has developed a slight patina with age while retaining its warm finish, and the double zip closure functions correctly. Inside, the black lining presents remarkably well. It remains clean and well-kept overall, with some lighter surface marks and traces of prior use, but with no major stains or significant damage visible. What is particularly pleasing is that this example is complete: the bag retains its matching Épi leather name tag and handle keeper, as well as the original Louis Vuitton padlock and key. Overall, this is a beautifully preserved early Épi Keepall that has clearly been used and enjoyed, while remaining remarkably stylish today. The combination of its deep Noir Épi leather, solid overall structure, attractive patina, and exceptionally complete set of accessories makes it a particularly compelling example.
