The 2014 Icon and the Iconoclasts collection celebrated Louis Vuitton's Monogram and featured the works of six significant creatives – Christian Louboutin, Cindy Sherman, Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Newson, Rei Kawakubo, and Frank Gehry. Each artist was given "carte blanche to create a personally inspired bag and/or a piece of luggage, using the iconic Monogram canvas." Rei Kawakubo is a visionary Japanese fashion designer and founder of Comme des Garçons. Rei Kawakubo's design philosophy is based on challenging conventions and pushing the boundaries of traditional fashion. For her contribution to the collection, Kawakubo designed a bag with large asymmetrical holes in the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram canvas. The design was deliberately disruptive and unconventional, breaking with the traditional idea of a luxury handbag as a perfectly crafted and flawless product. This beautiful, super rare Monogram "Burnt" Sac Plat from the 2014 Iconoclasts collection, made of Monogram canvas with three large asymmetrical holes with frayed edges on each side, and Vachetta leather handles, is very well-cared-for and well-preserved with minimal signs of wear.
