For Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2003 collection, Marc Jacobs invited Takashi Murakami to completely rework the house's Monogram, and the result was far more than an update — Murakami reimagined the LV logo and flowers across 33 individual colours, a process requiring 33 separate silkscreen passes for every single bag produced. The collection earned Louis Vuitton over $300 million in its debut year, fronted by Jennifer Lopez and Naomi Campbell, and the Multicolore print became instantly recognisable across celebrity culture throughout the early 2000s. The partnership eventually came to an end in 2015, retired quietly following Marc Jacobs' exit from the house. That discontinuation has since become a defining part of the design's appeal, turning what was once an everywhere-you-look print into something genuinely scarce — and as Y2K style continues its resurgence, resale values on select Multicolore pieces have climbed by over 200%. Louis Vuitton's 2025 reissue of the collaboration, arriving two decades after this bag was made, speaks to just how influential the original run continues to be. Among the colourways, black remains the standout choice, with its 33-colour palette contrasting sharply against the dark base to create what's widely seen as the most eye-catching and collectible version. Condition: Good, with wear that reflects both age and consistent use. The black coated canvas body is generally in good shape, showing light creasing from storage, while the Multicolore print itself remains well-preserved throughout. The front exterior pocket is in good condition, with only minor surface scratching on the gold-tone buckle lock and zip hardware. The base holds up well, though the brass corner protectors show more visible wear and scratching, the most notably worn hardware on the piece. Vachetta leather trim shows light general wear along with a natural aged patina, consistent with the bag dating to 2004. The top zip pull has developed some creasing. The rolled Vachetta handles have darkened naturally with age and show a few small surface scratches, along with some light staining near the base. Interior lining, in black suede-effect material, is generally in very good condition, with a small faint pen mark under 1cm visible in the photos, and the interior pocket shows only very light use. Comes with the original leather lock cover, aged but in good shape, along with both original keys in very good condition. Includes an EBV London dust bag.
