Prada runway clutch from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection, one of Miuccia Prada’s most recognisable collections, inspired by 1950s American automobiles. The distinctive car motif appeared throughout the season and this clutch was seen on the runway. Crafted from Prada’s signature textured green Saffiano leather, the clutch features an elaborate multi-coloured 1950s vintage car appliqué across the front, constructed from individually layered and stitched leather panels. The car is finished with wonderful details including red tail lights, contrasting tyres, chrome-effect bumper and a small PRADA plaque incorporated into the design. The architectural silver-tone metal frame is particularly striking, designed to echo the chrome detailing of a vintage automobile, with an integrated sculptural top handle. Finished with Prada’s enamelled triangular logo plaque to the side and PRADA MILANO engraved hardware and zip pull. The reverse is clean and minimal in uninterrupted green Saffiano leather. Very good pre-owned condition, especially for a runway piece from 2012. The Saffiano leather and appliqué remain beautifully preserved and the bag retains its structure very well. There is some visible glue residue/ageing around parts of the appliqué and detailing as shown in the photographs, together with light signs of use to the hardware.
