In the U.S., a standard Togo Birkin costs $13,500 for size 25, $14,900 for size 30, $16,300 for size 35, and $20,300 for size 40 in 2026. These are boutique retail prices; resale prices follow a different pattern.

Boutique prices vary by leather and construction, so the table uses Togo to keep the size comparison consistent.

No European Birkin 40 price has been published for 2026 by any source we could verify, including Sotheby's and the specialist price trackers that list the other three sizes. Scaling the European Birkin 35 price by the U.S. size gap puts it somewhere near €14,000, but that is arithmetic, not a confirmed boutique price, and we will not print it as one.

How we check these prices: Hermès does not publish a Birkin price list, so every figure here is cross-checked against Sotheby's January 2026 price reporting, dated specialist price tables, and buyer reports, with retail and resale kept strictly separate. Last verified August 2, 2026.

Birkin Price by Size and Leather

Birkin 25 price

A Birkin 25 in Togo costs $13,500 in the U.S. and €9,600 in Europe in 2026. It has the lowest base retail price of the four standard sizes, yet clean resale examples often cost the most in relation to retail. Togo and Swift cost the same this year; Chèvre, Barenia Faubourg, special constructions, and exotic skins cost more.

Birkin 30 price

A Birkin 30 in Togo costs $14,900 in the U.S. and €10,600 in Europe in 2026, or $1,400 more than the Birkin 25 in the U.S. It has a broader resale supply than size 25, so ordinary colors and used bags cover a wider range.

Birkin 35 and Birkin 40 prices

A Birkin 35 in Togo costs $16,300 in the U.S. and €11,600 in Europe, and a Birkin 40 costs $20,300 in the U.S. Both cost more at retail than the smaller sizes because they use more leather, but neither automatically costs more on resale. Demand is strongest for the 25 and 30, while the 35 and 40 often offer more bag for the money on the secondary market.

How Much Birkin Prices Increased in 2026

Hermès raised U.S. Birkin prices in January 2026. Birkin 25 Togo went from $12,700 to $13,500, Birkin 30 from $13,900 to $14,900, and Birkin 35 from $15,100 to $16,300.

European prices rose further than U.S. prices: Birkin 25 Togo moved from €8,950 to €9,600 (+7.3%), Birkin 30 from €9,800 to €10,600 (+8.2%), and Birkin 35 from €10,600 to €11,600 (+9.4%). The U.S. tariff-related adjustment often mentioned in 2026 coverage was the separate May 2025 increase, which added roughly 5%. As of August 2, no second 2026 increase has been documented in either market, and Hermès has not announced a rate for 2027. Birkin prices over the last decade

A Birkin 25 cost $9,400 in 2016 and costs $13,500 now, an increase of about 44%, or roughly 3.7% a year. The rise was not steady: prices held flat through 2020 and 2021, then moved sharply in 2024, again with the May 2025 tariff adjustment, and again in January 2026.

Birkin Prices in Other Countries

Hermès sets Birkin prices per market, and the 2026 increases did not land everywhere on the same day. The U.S. and Europe moved in January, Japan on February 1, and South Korea on January 5.

Only the U.S., European, and Japanese figures are solid enough to plan around. The rest come from individual buyer reports rather than published price lists, so treat them as indicative and expect a boutique to quote something slightly different.

Japanese prices include the 10% consumption tax, so the tax-free price a visitor pays is the sticker divided by 1.10, which works out to about 9% off rather than a flat 10%. A Birkin 25 at ¥2,013,000 comes to roughly ¥1,830,000 tax free. Japan switches from deducting the tax at the register to refunding it after departure on November 1, 2026, so anyone shopping there later this year should plan for the refund step.

How Leather and Hardware Change the Price

Size sets the base price, then leather and construction can move it higher. Togo and Swift Birkin 25 bags share the same 2026 retail price, while Chèvre and Barenia Faubourg add $1,000 and $1,600. Exotic skins and limited constructions belong in a much higher price tier.

Epsom and Clemence sit at the same price as Togo wherever a full price list is published — Japanese retailer lists show Birkin 30 in Togo, Epsom, and Clemence all at the same figure — and Clemence is still being made for the Birkin. A special order costs the same as a standard bag in the same leather at the time you pay for it; choosing your own colors carries no separate fee. The premium on special orders shows up later, on resale, where Sotheby's says the most desirable combinations can bring up to 50% more than a regular bag.

What about the HAC?

The Haut à Courroies is the taller, narrower bag the Birkin was derived from, and it is priced separately. No reliable 2026 U.S. or European HAC retail price has been published, so the safest thing to say is that you cannot work one out by taking the Birkin 40 price and adding a premium. Construction, leather, canvas panels, and limited-edition status move HAC prices too far for that shortcut to hold.

Current Birkin Resale Prices

Standard-leather resale prices are most useful when separated from crocodile, diamond-hardware, and limited-edition bags. On July 22, Fashionphile had 19 standard-leather Birkin 25 listings with a median ask of $23,995, 47 Birkin 30 listings at $19,995, and 15 Birkin 35 listings at $13,995.

These are asking prices, not completed sales. The same size pattern appears in sold-market coverage: Sotheby’s says its Togo Birkin 30 bags averaged $22,300 in 2025, while older leather Birkin 35 bags can begin around $15,000. Pristine neutral 25 and 30 bags still command the strongest markup; wear, brighter colors, older years, and larger sizes pull prices closer to retail.

Does color change the resale price?

It does, though less predictably than size. Across an April 2026 sweep of live listings, asking prices sorted by color like this. These medians mix every size and leather together, so read them as a ranking of demand rather than a valuation for any one bag.

For a single size the spread narrows. Birkin 25 bags in Togo were listed this summer at roughly $29,900 to $32,500 in Gold, $34,900 to $36,500 in Noir, and $27,500 to $30,700 in Étain.

What bags actually sell for

Asking prices and sale prices are not the same number, and the gap runs in both directions. Sotheby’s puts its average Togo Birkin 30 sale at $22,300 against pristine listings asking $28,000 to $30,000. At auction the surprise goes the other way: a black Togo Birkin 25 estimated at $12,000 to $15,000 sold for $24,130 at Christie’s in June 2026, and an Étoupe Epsom Sellier 25 estimated at $16,000 to $20,000 brought $27,940 the same day.

The wider market has cooled from its peak without collapsing. Sold-price data from specialist resellers shows ordinary-leather Birkins down roughly 7% from their 2023 high and flat through the first half of 2026. Demand is still far ahead of supply for the small sizes, but the era of automatic yearly appreciation on a standard Togo bag is over — treat the often-quoted claim that Birkins return 14% a year as a decade-old marketing statistic, not a forecast.

Why Two Birkins Can Cost So Differently

Retail prices are orderly; resale prices are not. Two bags that began at the same boutique price can end up thousands of dollars apart.

• Size: Birkin 25 and 30 draw the broadest demand.
• Leather: Togo, Epsom, Clemence, Swift, Barenia, Chèvre, and exotic skins wear differently and attract different buyers.
• Color: Noir, Gold, Etoupe, Etain, Craie, and other neutrals usually have broader demand than seasonal brights.
• Condition: Handle darkening, corner wear, scratches, odor, and softened structure can cut the price.
• Accessories: The box, dust bag, lock, keys, clochette, rain cover, felt, and purchase record can matter.
• Seller: Dealer inventory, consignment, auctions, and private sales include different fees and services.

Buying a Birkin at Retail vs. Resale

Hermès does not sell the Birkin online. Boutique retail is the lowest price, but it does not offer a simple public ordering path or a guaranteed choice of size, leather, and color. Resale costs more for the most wanted bags, but you can compare exact examples and buy on your own schedule.
