Dating to 2003–2004, this baguette silhouette reflects a specific period of Karl Lagerfeld's creative direction at Chanel, when he took the brand's most iconic motifs and reimagined them at an exaggerated, graphic scale. Both the interlocking CC logo and the No. 5 emblem — two of the house's most instantly recognisable symbols — are rendered here as large-scale appliqué, set on a body that combines ecru canvas with quilted silver-tone metallic leather. While the quilting nods directly to the diamond stitching of the Classic Flap, at this exaggerated proportion it feels closer to pop art than traditional Chanel design. Bold, irreverent, and distinctly of its moment, this bag is a great example of Lagerfeld applying humour to the house's most protected design language.
