In 2002, Marc Jacobs approached artist Takashi Murakami with the goal of reinventing Louis Vuitton's Monogram print, arguably the most iconic pattern in fashion history. The collaboration launched on the Spring/Summer 2003 runway, keeping the familiar interlocking LV, flowers, and quatrefoil shapes but reworking them in 33 individual colours across white and black coated canvas. Jacobs described the project as "a monumental marriage between art and business," and it lived up to that description in every way. The Multicolore Speedy 30 became one of the most iconic bags of its era, carried by nearly every high-profile name at the time. Nicolas Ghesquière eventually discontinued the collaboration in 2015, leaving every remaining piece to exist solely within the resale market. Market note: Louis Vuitton and Murakami reunited officially in 2025 with a fresh capsule collection, validating what resale buyers had already recognised — original Multicolore pieces function as true collectibles rather than simple vintage inventory. Demand for pre-2015 pieces has remained strong, and the Speedy 30, being the most recognisable shape tied to the collaboration, continues to be the most sought-after way into the collection. Condition: Good, with wear typical of a genuinely carried piece. The white Multicolore canvas remains in good condition overall, with very light marking scattered across the body, with no single mark exceeding 0.5cm. There's a clear inward crease along the centre base caused by storage, the most notable area of wear on the bag, visible in the accompanying photos. The front exterior pocket shows some mild pink discolouration, also shown clearly in the images. Gold-tone brass hardware remains in good shape throughout, with some light surface scratching but no significant damage. Vachetta trim is generally in good condition, showing a natural honey patina consistent with age. The zip closure functions properly. The LV clochette shows light wear but is in good condition, with both original keys present and in very good shape. Rolled Vachetta handles are generally in good condition, though one carries a larger red mark, clearly visible in the photos. Interior shows mild signs of use, consistent with genuine pre-owned wear. Includes an EBV London dust bag. We'd suggest taking a close look through all the photos before making a purchase.
