Moschino Couture Milano limited edition "Teddy Bear" shoulder bag in metal, wood, genuine leather and rhinestones. CONDITION/SIZE 🔽 A high-end handbag made of robust, quality materials, which are showcased through sophisticated finishes. We discover a small bag that reveals a compact briefcase design in a luxury leather goods version, therefore partly true craftsmanship, equipped with a rigid internal structure. It is a rectangular MDF wood case whose thickness is more significant than the metal clutches of some luxury brands. The box is elegantly covered with a genuine leather-clad facing, which is also why its thickness is important. The leather present is an extra smooth full-grain calfskin. Thus, one can appreciate the application of a magnificent metallic leather on the outer edges and a satin black leather on the inner edges, with very regular and clean stitching throughout. Applying a sheathing to a rigid material is a complex action to perform. We can see that on the base of the bag there are two riveted rectangular hinges in silver metal and four feet necessary for stability and protection of the bag, but they also serve as attachment points. The front/back faces get a theatrical ornamentation by an initially separate fabrication of rhinestone panels; these are sheets of high-end microfiber fabric fitted with heat-sealed rhinestones over their entire surface, then these panels are glued onto the structure. The eye is immediately drawn to this quintessence of crystal-colored rhinestones revealed by the luminous reflections. The highlight of the show is the decorative teddy bear head, a massive sculptural piece in silver metal that displays a sweet expression and an undeniable chrome aspect. The bear's head plays the subtle and clever role of a push clasp; the implementation of this type of system is normally used in jewelry, it is a function hidden in the decor, which is a "luxury object" approach, an almost invisible mechanism: the head is mounted on a slider, when you press the bear a spring compresses the system, the small latch located under the head retracts inside and the bag opens into two parts. Inside the bag, we can see a full black leather sheathing lining: constructed in several sewn and perfectly stretched pieces that hide the structure. Observe the longitudinal bead located at the bottom of the bag; we note that it is itself sheathed in leather and sewn, whereas this is an area where movement occurs due to the opening and closing of the bag. Here a leather goods maker would have chosen a less expensive material, but luxury obliges, it is leather. Inside the bag, we also discover a leather wall pocket signed "Moschino/Milano", a small leather patch that states "Made in Italy" and when the bag is open, we can observe black leather gusset pieces that connect each part of the box. Visually an extravagant bag whose entire construction seeks to mask the mechanics and the framework, this is the sign of very sharp industrial design work behind the Moschino aesthetic. This is not a traditional cold metal minaudière, but a real luxury leather goods box made warmer by the addition of leather.
