Where is the Hermès boutique in San Diego?

The present boutique is in Westfield UTC, sometimes called University Town Center. Hermès opened its first San Diego store at Fashion Valley in 2008, later moved to UTC, and announced the relocated UTC boutique’s reopening on July 16, 2026. Fashion Valley is no longer the destination.

You may also see 4545 La Jolla Village Drive, Suite E-25 in the footer of Hermès’s reopening announcement. Its current consumer store locator and after-sales directory both give 4487 La Jolla Village Drive, Suite 2535, so use that address for navigation. A third-party listing at 4305 La Jolla Village Drive reflects an older UTC suite.

The reopened 2026 space

Hermès describes a terracotta-toned ceramic exterior with broad windows. Silk occupies the welcome area, with perfume and beauty to one side and home collections to the other; leather goods sit farther inside. The Paris firm RDAI designed the space, which includes a private lounge and photographs chosen to evoke Southern California. The company says the boutique presents all 16 of its métiers, though that does not mean every product or size is in stock.

Parking, valet and trolley access

Westfield UTC’s published parking tariff gives every visitor the first hour free. If you stay longer, the posted rates apply. Hermès is absent from Westfield’s published merchant validation list.

Valet costs $20 per day. Its drive-up is on La Jolla Village Drive beside Javier’s and Lucrezia, near Genesee Avenue. Westfield identifies a rideshare pickup and drop-off point by Room & Board.

The UC San Diego Blue Line serves UTC Transit Center at the mall. Westfield also offers complimentary wheelchairs with photo ID, subject to availability, and accessible parking near the main center entrances.

Sales tax for visitors

California does not offer a general tourist VAT refund. If you take possession of a purchase at Hermès San Diego, living abroad does not by itself make the sale tax-free. The state tax table lists San Diego at 7.750% as of September 2026; the exact-address lookup gives the rate for the store’s address on the day you check.

California’s tax exemptions for goods a retailer delivers directly abroad or to a qualifying exporter are described in CDTFA Publication 104. Taking possession at the boutique and carrying the purchase abroad yourself remains taxable.

Appointments and walk-ins

You can shop as a walk-in; private appointments are optional. Hermès’s booking portal lets you book a private shopping visit.

The boutique’s phone number is +1 619-574-9570. For a walk-in visit, arrive during the posted 10 a.m.–6 p.m. hours Monday through Saturday and allow time to wait if the sales associates are busy.

What is inside the San Diego store?

The reopened boutique has areas for silk, perfume, beauty, fashion jewelry, home, leather goods, equestrian pieces, fine jewelry, watches, shoes and men’s and women’s ready-to-wear. Hermès’s reopening announcement describes the layout; Westfield’s tenant listing also identifies bags, leather goods, beauty, jewelry, watches and home.

Repairs and after-sales

You can drop off an Hermès item at the San Diego boutique, which is listed in the after-sales directory. Hermès examines the item and then provides a cost estimate and waiting period for the planned repair.

A March 2025 shopper bought a Picotin on a first visit after choosing other merchandise. In the 2024 San Diego discussion, another buyer reported purchasing two Birkins there. Buy other items because you want them, not to meet a rumored bag threshold.

Picotin and Evelyne are sold at UTC, though a particular size or color may be unavailable on the day you visit. Online Hermès inventory is a separate channel; BagUSeek’s free restock alerts can help you watch online bag listings. They do not obtain a boutique quota-bag offer.

Planning your first visit

Allow for paid parking if you expect to stay past an hour. Walk in to browse or book through Hermès if you want a private appointment. For a repair, bring the item to the boutique for assessment. Once inside, ask to see the items that interest you. A Birkin or Kelly purchase requires an offer from a sales associate.

You do not need a special outfit to ask about a scarf, fragrance or bag. If your schedule is tight, avoid arriving just before the 6 p.m. close. For a weekend trip, remember the boutique is closed Sunday even if other UTC tenants are open.
