Hermès Meatpacking is at 46 Gansevoort Street, across from Gansevoort Plaza in Manhattan. You can walk in without an appointment, or book a private visit. Opening reports describe two customer floors. Today the store lists handbags, silk, clothing, shoes, beauty and home goods, but it does not publish live bag stock. Hermès store listing · opening-era floor plan.
Go here if your day takes you through the Meatpacking District, the Whitney or the southern High Line. If you are traveling for a particular bag, call first; a handbag department and a booked appointment cannot tell you what will be offered when you arrive.
Where is Hermès Meatpacking?
Use 46 Gansevoort Street, New York, NY 10014 for directions. The shop faces the street in a restored yellow-brick market building, across from Gansevoort Plaza. Older property documents say 46–48 Gansevoort or include a Greenwich Street building address; those refer to the larger property, not a second customer entrance. Current address · Building history.
The façade has large industrial windows and ironwork. It is a useful wayfinding cue in a district where several streets meet around the plaza. Hermès has not published an accessibility guide for this entrance, so call the boutique if a step-free route or elevator is essential to your visit.
Hours, walk-ins and appointments
Hermès lists the following regular hours as of September 18, 2026. Sunday closes an hour earlier than Tuesday through Saturday; the boutique is closed Monday. Holiday schedules can change, so check the store page or call before a special trip.

Do you need to book?
No. The official listing explicitly welcomes visitors without an appointment. If you want a dedicated visit, its link opens Hermès's private-appointment portal. The booking page does not promise a particular handbag, a stock check or a place on a bag list. Call +1 212-257-1600 if you want to ask which department can help with your request.
A walk-in may still involve waiting for an available associate. There is no reliable published quietest hour for this location, so allow time if you want to browse more than one department.
Getting there and planning the trip
The 14 St/8 Av station serves the A, C, E and L trains. The MTA lists an elevator at the northwest corner of 14th Street and Eighth Avenue; check current station accessibility and service before leaving. The M14A-SBS, M14D-SBS, M20, M11 and M12 also connect near that station.
No Hermès-operated valet or validated parking arrangement was confirmed for Meatpacking. Check garage terms or posted street signs on your travel date. The boutique's two-floor design is documented, but its current customer elevator, threshold and accessible facilities were not confirmed; phone the store before traveling if you need a particular accommodation.
New York City's combined sales tax is 8.875% on taxable purchases. A narrow exemption applies to qualifying clothing and footwear under $110 per item; it does not make handbags tax-free. Visitors should not plan on a general tourist sales-tax refund. NYC Department of Finance.
What the boutique sells
The current Hermès listing names handbags, apparel, scarves, shoes, fragrances, home goods, beauty and Apple products. It confirms departments, not live inventory. A Birkin, Kelly, Picotin or Garden Party in a particular size and color may or may not be available when you visit. Meatpacking departments.
Opening-era plans placed silk near the entrance and described leather goods, apparel and objects across two floors. Displays and department placement can change, so ask an associate where to start if you came for a particular category. Spacesmith's design account.
The public page does not confirm repair intake, engraving, hot stamping or other after-sales services at this location. If you need to bring an item for service, call first and ask whether Meatpacking accepts that work, whether you need an appointment and what documentation to bring.
Birkin, Kelly and purchase history
Hermès lists handbags at Meatpacking, but it does not publish a local Birkin or Kelly prespend figure, offer schedule or first-come, first-served waitlist. Ask an associate how to express your preferences. Do not spend to reach a number quoted by a stranger online; it may describe one person's history and a different bag.
The accounts disagree. In a January 2026 Meatpacking discussion, a poster calculated different spending ratios for several offers. A February 2026 account described about $23,000 in purchases over roughly a year without the requested Mini Kelly. One shopper’s offer and another’s long wait cannot tell you what spending will lead to your requested bag.
The public materials also do not say whether online purchases, Maison Madison purchases or shopping with another associate count toward a Meatpacking request. A July 2025 customer post raised that question but did not report an answer or an offer. If you have an existing Hermès account, ask your associate directly how your past shopping and any open request will be handled.
What about a first visit?
A late-August 2026 trip account described Mini Garden Party choices and a Kelly To Go during one short New York visit. The account does not establish what will be available on your day, or whether the shopper had prior Hermès history. One older walk-in Birkin story was retold secondhand and cannot support a visitor policy.
The building and the boutique
The 1938–1939 building was made for the Meatpacking District's market economy. Its pale brick, industrial windows and geometric detail survived the conversion to retail. Hermès opened here in April 2019. Village Preservation's building history · 2019 opening report.
Photographs from the 2019 opening show an open staircase, a restored skylight and an Hermès ex-libris mosaic. Spacesmith was the executive architect, with RDAI credited for the store design. The skylight and stair explain the original two-floor plan; the photographs cannot show what is on display today. Project account.
Opening reports described 5,330 square feet over two shopping floors. An earlier lease announcement referred to 10,000 square feet and three levels. Those figures were never reconciled, so neither gives a reliable current selling area. Lease announcement · Opening coverage.
A useful first visit
Check the hours and holiday exceptions before leaving. Call about access, appointments, department availability or repair intake if those determine whether you can make the trip. Discuss a bag’s model, size and color with an associate when you visit; a phone call should not be treated as a Birkin or Kelly stock check.
At the boutique, browse the departments that interest you and ask a sales associate about current pieces. If you want a bag, describe the one you would actually use. For an after-sales request, confirm service intake before carrying the item across town.
The Whitney Museum, the High Line and Gansevoort Plaza are nearby, making the boutique easy to fold into a downtown day. Wear shoes suited to the district's cobblestones; no official Hermès dress code was found.
To follow U.S. online bag listings between visits, BagUSeek's free Hermès bag restock alerts can notify you when a matching bag appears. The online store is separate from boutique Birkin and Kelly offers; alerts do not secure a store offer.
